Hiphop Chronicles

Hip-hop Chronicles has teamed up with Bishopsgate Institute and with a carefully crafted plan that aims to store UK Hiphop items of significance starting from the early 80's at the institute.

Bishopsgate Institute and what the do...

They are Proudly independent since 1895, Bishopsgate Institute is a cultural venue in the City of London, with its nearest tube station being Liverpool Street. There beautiful Victorian building is a place for people to connect over a shared love of learning. They believe everyone’s history should be valued, and there special collections and archives document the experiences of everyday life, as well as the people who have campaigned for social, political and cultural change. Hip-Hop Chronicles aims to assist the institute to further their mission by adding some of the UK Hip-Hop History. Ricky Rennalls and Colin McDonald visited the institute in 2019 and was astonished with archives of historical depth. But they noticed that it was lacking in the its Hip-Hop historical context. They both previously had brain stormed ideas of a type of Hip-Hop Museum and this seems a perfect collaboration.

Hip-Hop Items Storing Process...

  1. Hip-Hop Chronicles will appoint a board of members, with a sole directive of choosing the items that will be stored at the institute.
  2. The board will meet monthly via Zoom and the manager will present the items to be stored at the institute. Initially this will be two items a month, but this amount will vary depending on demand.
  3. Bishopsgate Institute will follow their own protocol’s in housing all items. This policy can be seen on the Bishopsgate Institute’s website.
